Duty To God In Action Req. 2B

This #WebelosWednesday we take a look at requirement 2B of the Webelos Duty To God In Action.

2B: Discuss with your family how the Scout Oath and Scout Law relate to your beliefs about duty to God.

I personally have recited the Scout Law since I became a Boy Scout 25 year ago... Wow that makes me sound old! I fully believe that if you adopt these words and practice them in your daily life, they will make you a better person and draw you closer to your family and Father in Heaven.

Simple Floor Plan

Engineer Activity Badge Req. 2
Draw a floor plan of your house. Include doors, windows, and stairways.

You can use a computer or simply sketch out your floor plan on a piece of paper.  We recommend using a ruler to make your lines straight.

Here is our quick sketch of our floor plan.  Make sure to include your windows and doors!

Here are what the symbols would look like if you unrolled a set of blueprints:

Meaning Of The Webelos Badge

The Webelos badge is like the emblem on your Webelos cap, except that it also has the word "Webelos" and the Scout badge. The emblem is made up of a gold Scout badge with a blue "W," for Webelos, on it. It shows that you are moving from Cub Scouting to Boy Scouting.

Explain Good Sportsmanship

Sportsman Activity Badge: Req. 2

Scouting usually involves the Den, Pack, Patrol, or Troop playing some sort of game.  The Varsity Scout program is based on the team format involving Team Captains and Team Coaches. No matter your your position in Scouting or your age, it is always important to show good sportsmanship.  As you promise to Do Your Best, you agree that no matter how hard the activity is, or if the other team is winning, you will have a positive attitude no matter the outcome.  Sure it's alright to be upset or discouraged when your not winning... those are natural feeling.  What shows your true character is how you act upon those feelings. Even when you win it is possible to not show good sportsmanship.

Things You Can Do As A Parent To Help Your Cub Scout

As a parent, especially if it is your first time experiencing Cub Scouts, the question always come up... "What do I need to do?" There are a ton of things involved with Cub Scouts. From all the requirements for Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, Activity Badges, Arrow of Light, and not to mention Sports and Academic belt loops and pins... it can get a little overwhelming.  Just remember the Cub Scout Motto - "DO YOUR BEST!"

The following are some items that you as a parent can do to "help the pack go"

Pascal's Law

Webelos Scientist Activity Badge
Req. 2.

#WebelosWednesday
Pascal's law or the principle of transmission of fluid-pressure is a principle in fluid mechanics that states that pressure exerted anywhere in a confined incompressible fluid is transmitted equally in all directions throughout the fluid such that the pressure variations (initial differences) remain the same.

A great example of this is the next time you brush your teeth.  As you squeeze the toothpaste tube you are acting on Pascal's Law. What happens to the toothpaste as you apply pressure to the tube? Why does the toothpaste not stay within the tube as you apply pressure?
